Updates From Bishop Wilkes
Tucson YSA 2nd Ward
Hello you awesome people!
I wanted to reach out to let you know of a few things that are coming up.
This Friday, 9/19, at 7pm is our YSA TALENT SHOW! We have all kinds of acts from the YSA groups, individuals, and leaders. Please make sure to attend as it will be a great time had by all!
The next day, Saturday, 9/20, we have our monthly temple trip. We will be attending the 2pm endowment session and 230pm for baptisms. As always, we will be heading back to the institute for a great meal after being together in the temple. Please come join us in the Lord's House.
October 4-5 will be General Conference. So we will not be having regular Sunday services at the Institute on the 5th. Please prayerfully consider questions or concerns you have in your life and bring them to conference. I'm amazed at how many of my questions get answered when I watch the sessions with an open heart and mind. I can't think of a better way to prepare for General Conference than by going to the temple.
I want to share an idea with you. Former Miss America winner, Sharlene Wells Hawkes, tells a story of her pioneer ancestor. This pioneer was crossing the plains with her family when their covered wagon got stuck in the terrible Iowa mud. One of the occupants said, "well, I guess we need to pray." This faithful pioneer woman replied, "I already prayed this morning, we need to get out and push!"
I have learned over and over again in my life that our Father appreciates and rewards effort. I learned on my mission to pray as though everything depends on Father, and then work as though everything depends on me. I'm firmly convinced that when we work hard and pray hard, Father will hear our prayers and recognize our efforts and He will bless us.
I love you all! Please don't forget to check LDS tools to see if your phone number and email are correct, and please upload a recent picture of yourself. See you soon!
