Tucson YSA 2nd Ward
Hello my people!
I hope all is well and that you enjoyed all the rain we were blessed with. I wanted to let you be aware of some important events that are coming up.
Tomorrow is the annual East Stake Barbecue. It starts at 3pm and goes til dark. It's at the church owned Binghampton Family Ballpark located at 3761 E Kleindale Road which is near the corner of Alvernon and Ft Lowell. Our ward has been assigned to help set up chairs and tables, along with running all the games for children and teenagers. We are asking all those who are able to assist to be there around 2pm to help. Please check in with Eliza Ballantyne and Ian Thompson as they are running the show. I'm currently in Idaho and will be coming to the barbecue straight from the airport arriving late. Please come enjoy the barbecue even if you cannot assist, it's always a great time and great food!
This Sunday night (10/19) is a special fireside for all Tucson YSAs with the General YM President, Timothy L Farns. It starts promptly at 7pm, so please arrive early for a good seat and parking! Remember that the uncovered parking lot across the street and next door at the MLK building are available and free on the weekends. It's not often that we have a general authority give us a dedicated fireside, so this is a good one to not miss.
Our ward temple trip will be next Saturday, 10/25. The endowment session will be at 2pm and baptisms at 230pm. And OF COURSE all temple attendees are invited back to the institute to enjoy a yummy dinner together!
Halloween night (Friday, 10/31) we are having a massive party at the Nielsen's ranch. 13075 E Speedway. Put on your best costume and come enjoy a spooky good time!
Friday, November 14th, will be our Fall Formal Dance. Ask your dates now! There will be a very special concert performance by Wayne Burton before the dance at 7pm at the institute. He's one of the premier LDS singer songwriters (check him out online), has written nine FSY theme songs, and traveled to 15 countries performing in front of many thousands of people. This is big deal and will be incredible, please don't miss it.
Finally, something to put on your calendar. January 23-25, 2026, at the Rawhide Event Center in Chandler, AZ, will be the YSA Desert Days. All YSAs ages 18-35 are invited to attend the largest YSA conference in Arizona's history. There will be general authority speakers, headliner entertainers, it will be incredible. Please register at ysadesertdays.com and follow @ysadesertdays on Instagram for updates.
Love you all! Yours in the Faith,
Bishop Wilkes
