"You'll Be Back" - For More Fun!

Tucson YSA 1st Ward

21 September 2025

Hey y'all! This past week was full of so many fun activities, including a few extras. The Wednesday karaoke was a blast! We have lots of talented singers here. But not just singers - well done to everyone participating in the talent show last Friday! It was amazing! And Bishop did indeed sing a song from Hamilton, in costume - y'all missed out if you didn't go. If there's anything we learned from Abby, it's how to be hyped for an activity. I hope y'all take that lesson into this week as we build towers, do something active, and go to the temple!

Here's what's coming up:

  • Home Evening every Monday at 7:00pm

    • This week: Spaghetti Towers

    • Food afterwards combined with both wards

    • Institute - 1333 E 2nd St

  • Game Night every Wednesday at 7:00pm

    • Evening institute class ("Brother Bauer Power Hour") starts at 6:00pm in the chapel

    • Food at 7:00pm (in the gym), games afterwards combined with both wards

    • This week: Something Active

      • Board games and friends are always an option whether an activity is planned or not

    • Institute - 1333 E 2nd St

  • Church meetings every Sunday at 1:00pm

    • Fast and Testimony meeting

    • Second hour (28 Sep):

    • Food afterwards

    • If you can't find parking at the institute, nearby uncovered lots on campus are free on Sundays

      • They're also usually free to park most evenings, but double-check the signs to be sure

    • Institute - 1333 E 2nd St

  • Ward Choir every Sunday at 3:30pm

    • All abilities are welcome!

    • Contact Macy Halverson with any questions: 801-671-1591

    • Institute (back classroom) - 1333 E 2nd St

  • Relief Society Activity on Monday, 29 September at 6:00pm

    • Craft night: Bring a craft you are working on and hang out

  • Institute classes run daytime Mon-Thurs

    • Evening classes Wednesday and Thursday at 6:00PM.

    • Institute - 1333 E 2nd St

  • Gathering Place Club Spotlight:

    • A growing group meets at the institute every Saturday evening to play Magic: The Gathering. You can find them in the gathering room of the institute. They're also happy to lend you a deck if you don't bring one and teach you how to play if you don't know how, so there's no harm in giving it a try if you're curious. Come be a landowner for a night!

  • Lots of other Gathering Place activities at the institute every evening of the week

    • Calendar of events/activities for both wards: https://www.tucsonysa.org/

      • Special thanks to Orlando Rodriguez for keeping this up to date!

    • Give something new a try, even if you're skeptical - you might find something you like! I discovered a love for dancing at social dance nights every Saturday night (now at 7:00pm) and recommend that to everyone. This month we're learning country swing, with separate instruction for beginner and intermediate dancers, and then an open dance floor to practice and have a good time

Don't forget our ward goals:

 • Did I check on my ministering assignments this week?

 • Did I make or renew a covenant this week?

 • Did I pray sincerely with an eternal perspective this week?

 • Did I strive to include the Holy Ghost in my personal study this week?

 • Did I invite someone to participate in the Gospel of Jesus Christ this week?

 • Did I serve someone as Jesus Christ would have this week?
